Do you have any idea how complicated the Bible’s attitude toward money is? There’s nothing simple here; it’s not “Money is a blessing. Enjoy!” and it’s not “Money is evil, give it all away.” It’s a little bit of both, and a whole lot more besides.
If you’re a preacher, are you afraid to preach about money?
If you listen to preachers, does it automatically turn you off when you hear someone preach about money?
My thesis at the moment is that our attitudes about money are perhaps the least healthy part of our devotion to God. (And YES, money is a spiritual topic, part of our devotion.) As a subculture: Western evangelical attitudes about money are even more messed up than Western evangelical attitudes about sex.
